26A012 The Latest War by Jim Davies,  3/24/2026

War is the main business and favorite activity of governments, because waging them tends to unite their people, solidify their support and permanently increase the rulers' power. In America's 250 years its FedGov has fought 115 of them, not a single one defensive, and last month another began, with an attack on Iran.

So far that normal domestic result hasn't emerged, because at present opinion is sharply divided about whether it should have been started.

Since 1979 when radical Muslim zealots took control in Tehran, they have been a menace to the Middle East. They have sponsored assassins, financed Lebanese, Yemeni and Gazan thugs and rebels whose aim is to kill Jews, and asserted their Shia Muslim doctrines to the discomfort of the Wahhabi sects in Arabia and Sunni ones elsewhere. All neighboring nations are wary of them (last week Saudi Arabia expelled Iranian diplomats), and when their proxies in Gaza needed refuge after 2023, not one volunteered to take them. So despite its oil wealth and the sizeable secular component of its 93 million people, Iran's government is one of the very worst. It needs to be removed, even more than most.

Does that mean a US/Israeli alliance should do the job? - not exactly.

The Israeli State is under threat from those Iranian theocrats, but that's Israel's problem, not America's. I'm not sure whether anti-Jewish hatred would be so intense in the Mid-East if Jews had immigrated there without establishing a State; I think it would be much less, but don't know. It may be that Muslim bigotry is so savage that it would have made no difference. Either way, the fact that since 1948 there has been a Jewish State in Palestine can only have aggravated the prejudice. Its relative success, in establishing a prosperous, civilized society may have spawned envy and made the hatred even worse.

It's understandable that Jews, who have been persecuted many times in "Christian" Europe over centuries, should wish to return to their traditional homeland between the Jordan and the Med. They were doing that from 1900 onwards, and after the horrors of the Nazi genocide the movement accelerated. Had they merely settled there and offered services to the sparse native population, they would still have prospered. If any had attacked them, they would have used the Porcupine Defense to discourage more. There was no need to set up a State apparatus.

But that anarchist path was not taken, back in 1947, despite the legendary high intelligence of Jewish people. The result has been a succession of wars, and now with US help Israel is striking back at the big remaining enemy, the Iranian State.

Why the FedGov should help it, I don't know. Some allege that Jewish influence is so prevalent that Israel "controls" decisions made in D.C.; I doubt it, despite the President's daughter having married Jared Kushner, who is a serious, religious Jew. Beyond that, the FedGov participates because it can; it steals the funding from you and me by tax, and uses its immense military power to attempt a régime change and extend its empire.

It may or may not work. Tucker Carlson, for whom I have a lot of respect, doubts that it can; notably because the two parties to this joint attack have separate interests that must diverge at some point.

We shall see. The US régime should never have begun this war, for it has no valid business in the Middle East (or for that matter anywhere else) - but since it did so, I hope it will succeed in dislodging the theocrats running Iran, because a government there whose policy is to live peacefully with all its neighbors (Israel, Russia, Arabia...) is obviously less evil than the destablizing, rogue state that operates today.

As long as states (societies with government) continue to exist, rivalries among them will always - and have always - produce wars. If you want to abolish war, you therefore have to abolish government. That will happen, one by one, when plain people decline to work for theirs; and that will happen when they understand how evil it is, and that will happen after learning freedom in a school like TOLFA. Have you?
