They certainly don't deserve scorn - still less, government prohibitions. Like those with such physical deformities they also deserve admiration, if they rise above them. Before he shot his girlfriend (deliberately or by accident) Oscar Pistorious was an outstanding example: having no feet, he became a "blade runner" and competed in the 2012 Olympics on level terms. Are there any who choose to find a partner of the same sex? - I'm not sure, though am told not. But if there are, it's a very queer choice. They are deliberately doing without some of the most delightful experiences of life: the complementary love of a good spouse, the incomparable pleasure of making one's own babies and raising them. The modern fad, though, is for sexual deviants to proclaim "Gay Pride" and that is wholly ridiculous and foolish. Let's analyze it. "Gay" is a word meaning lighthearted celebration and/or humor. It's admirable if people born without the correct chromasome can overcome their disability and even joke about it, but the condition is absolutely one to regret, as above. Pistorious was not happy to be without feet; nor was Stephen Hawking, a pre-eminent math and physics professor at Cambridge, glad to be devastated by motor neuron disease. Currently the conservative advocate and biblical scholar Dennis Prager is paralyzed from the neck down as a result of a simple accident, and while he has recovered some ability to speak and retains a mind as sharp as ever, he finds no humor in the situation. Likewise, to call homosexuals "gay" is just bizarre. The jollity is artificial. "Pride" means contentment and pleasure about an achievement of some kind, and is best combined with modesty. You undertake a difficult task, and complete it; that's satisfying, and pride in having done so is appropriate, so long as it doesn't morph into boasting. One can also validly have vicarious pride; for example, pride in the achievements of one's child, or for that matter one's parents. That doesn't stretch to the mere inheritance of a noble title, for that's not an achievement but an accident of birth; but if a father built a successful enterprise from scratch, I'd think his children would be proud of him. Being stuck with a crippling abnormality, many homosexuals work all the harder to achieve things in life, and do very well, and rightly feel proud at having done so. Good for them!
