22A034 MH17: A Second Look by Jim Davies, 8/23/2022

Eight years ago last month, a Malaysian 777 was shot out of the sky over Donetsk, Ukraine, killing all 298 aboard. Shortly afterwards, the ZGBlog A Smoking Tape offered comment.

That tape was a recording apparently made on July 17th of a telecon between a Russophile warrior (then called a "rebel") near the crash site, and a Russian army major across the nearby border. The former told the latter that the wreckage appeared to be that of a civil airliner, and he seemed surprised. The tape was evidence that the BOK missile that had brought down the aircraft had been supplied by Russia and fired under instructions from Russia.

That was the conclusion later reached by a Dutch court that named three Russian men in its government as reponsible for the disaster, and convicted them in absentia. However, Holland is a NATO member so the court was not exactly impartial.

Investigators did a good job of analysing details of the crash, as shown by the BBC, here. They proved it was caused by a BOK device fired from the ground and not by an air-to-air missile (as was thought for a while) and even tracked the particular device to one Russian army brigade. It could be (and allegedly was) taken across the border to Ukraine by truck, which then returned. The BBC page includes an animation under "What Caused the Crash?" - well worth watching by those interested.

What the court did not do, any more than any of the accounts and comments my search engine revealed, was to explore the motives of the accused, or whether the Ukrainian government played any part. So here's what I've put together, making two key assumptions:

1. The three antagonists, then as now, are the RusGov, the UkeGov and the would-be secessionists in the Donetsk-Luhansk area, hereinafter "rebels."

2. The RusGov was happy to help the rebels, but not overtly or directly.

The rebels were being harassed by the UkeGov's air and ground forces, so were eager to strike back; and the RusGov offered the loan of a missile truck for a day or so if they could identify a juicy, airborne target.

The UkeGov got to hear of that plan and leaked "intelligence" that a large plane carrying ground troops would overfly Donetsk at a certain time on July 17th. The plan was accordingly activated and the rebels scanned the sky with whatever tools they had.

There never was a troop transport flight but when MH17 arrived over Kiev, the UkeGov's air traffic controller dictated a course adjustment that would take it directly over Donetsk; and that adjustment is factual. The rest is history.

Some insist that the tape recording is a fake, and because it's date-stamped the day before the shoot-down, that's quite credible. However there are many witnesses who saw missiles trucked through their village both before and after the firing, so maybe the time stamp was just a clerical error.

So, who shot down MH17? - not the RusGov, whose agents were blamed by the Dutch court; for they had no such intention. Yes they supplied the weapon, but not the intent. You lend a friend a gun, who says she plans to use it on a serial rapist, but she shoots someone else by mistake; it's not your fault.

Not the rebels, by intent; though they did pull the trigger in what might best be called "friendly fire." I do blame them for not admitting the error, though they'd not wish to implicate their main helpers.

The UkeGov, on the other hand, did deliberately place MH17 in harm's way, in this scenario (which I cannot, of course, prove.) They leaked the false info about a troop carrier, kept their air space open knowing that rebels were planning a shoot-down, and steered MH17 so as to maximize the risk; all in order to discredit their rebel enemies. And that body is the one to whom all Western governments have pledged their unwavering support.

These are the games that governments play. Will you help end their blood-spattered existence?
